3 Teens Face First-Degree Murder Charges In Pot Robbery Attempt
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police have arrested three teenagers in connection with a murder at an Aurora Taco Bell in June.
Calvin Banks, 18, Sterling Hook, 17, and Vincent Rucker, 16, face first-degree murder charges.
Police say Mark Chafant, 19, died from gunshot wounds after a marijuana sale went awry on June 4 at the restaurant in the 3500 block of South Tower Road.
Court records say Chafant attempted to sell marijuana to the teens. The arrest affidavit says they had a "plan of 'doing a lick' (street term for robbery) of the person's weed and running away with it." Chafant negotiated to sell the pot for $180 to the trio, the affidavit said.
Witnesses said shots were fired in the parking lot after a fight had broken out. Police found a gun and bag of marijuana in Chafant's car. A witness told police he saw Hook pick up a revolver and throw it through the car's windows.
Banks and Rucker are each charged with seven felony counts. Hook faces six.
