This Month May Be Among Top 5 Driest Septembers On Record

DENVER (CBS4)- September may wind up in the top five driest on record in Colorado and also has a good shot at being the warmest on record. This is really doing a number on the fire danger across the state.

Right now there are twelve counties with some type of fire ban or restriction because of the dry hot fall that just began a couple of days ago. Some of those counties include Boulder, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Jefferson, Arapahoe, Elbert and Lincoln.

And as we head closer toward the end of the month it doesn't look like things will be getting better anytime soon. The Jetstream is being forced way up into Canada by a big upper level high pressure ridge that will be keeping temperatures above normal, wind flow out of the west and low, low humidity levels at least through the beginning of next week.
