Thieves Grab Woman's Purse, Use ID And Keys To Burglarize Home

DENVER (CBS4) - Two thieves snatched a handbag from a woman last Friday, found her address from her driver's license and then burglarized the woman's home using her house keys, police said.

To top it off, they used plastic bins and suitcase from the victim's home to ransack her home and ferry out electronics and other personal items.

The victim, whom police didn't name, was near Colfax Avenue and Humboldt Street when police say the two men forcefully took her purse.

"She's a very young woman and it's a situation, unfortunately, that's a very costly experience," police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. "Fortunately she did have a security system, which has some pretty good pictures of these individuals that went into her home and took the items."

Police said the victim, who was intoxicated when officers first contacted her along Colfax, is relatively new to Denver. She was taken to a detox facility.

"We're talking with her to see, to backtrack where that might have happened, what she can remember," Jackson said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Denver police or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
