Suspect Made Fake 911 Call To Lure Deputies To Him

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Investigators believe a man who was shot by a deputy after hitting another Arapahoe County Sheriff's deputy, made a fake 911 call to lure authorities to the area.

Deputies were alerted to a liquor store robbery at the Arapahoe Village Shopping Center located at 5050 East Arapahoe Road in Centennial about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. The suspect told the 911 dispatch operator that he saw people going into the store with guns and that they were wearing masks.

When deputies arrived, they found the liquor store closed and no suspects anywhere. That's when the suspect, identified as Alexander West, drove through the lot, taking several turns before hitting one of the deputies who was investigating the scene near the liquor store.

In response, another deputy shot West, 25, which brought him to a stop, but not before he crashed into a concrete pillar. The deputy does not have any serious injuries.

West was rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds. He remains in custody on charges of attempted murder of a peace officer and false reporting.
