Supporters Of Both Sides Of Middle East Conflict Demonstrate At State Capitol

DENVER (CBS4) - The crisis in the Middle East Is hitting close to home for many Coloradans, and on Sunday pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian protestors gathered on the steps of the state Capitol.

Both sides are asking for peace but both sides continue to point fingers at each other for the fighting in Gaza and Israel that's claimed hundreds of lives.

The event started as a rally in support of Israel. In response a group of about 20 Palestinian supporters set up across the street.

CBS4 spoke with both sides about the conflict and what they believe needs to happen next.

"We would like Israel to dismantle the Hamas terrorist machine that's been shelling towns in Israeli," Tsivya Frieder with Americans Against Terrorism said.

"What needs to happen is a complete cease fire; it needs to stop," Palestine supporter Yasmeen Khalaf said.

To ensure both demonstrations were peaceful Denver police, the Colorado State Patrol and sheriff's deputies from were not far away.
