Stanley Hotel To Open Hedge Maze Inspired By 'The Shining' To The Public
ESTES PARK, Colo. (CBS4) - The historic Stanley Hotel announced the grand opening of the large hedge maze inspired by the Stanley Kubrick movie "The Shining."
The hotel on Wednesday said the grand opening will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. on the front lawn of the hotel located at 333 East Wonderview Avenue in Estes Park.
"The design for the maze was submitted through an international contest open to the public in which hundreds of entries were received from around the world," the hotel said in a statement. "A ribbon-cutting ceremony will officially open the maze for thousands of visitors from Colorado and around the world."
New York resident Mairim Dallaryan Standing's design was picked by a panel of judges.
"The Maze will serve as homage to the film, which was inspired by author Stephen King's The Shining, which he wrote after an experience at The Stanley Hotel," the hotel said.
Property owner John W. Cullen said he was "thrilled to share this special moment in my life and the hotel's history."
The maze will be free of charge for Stanley Hotel visitors.
