Springs Family 'Lucks Out' In Mountain Lion Encounter
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - A Colorado Springs family had a close encounter with a mountain lion Friday morning.
Family members said they were raking the yard with the children when a neighbor told them to get inside immediately. The neighbor took a picture of a mountain lion just a few feet from their home.
It turned out the animal had killed a deer overnight and dragged it under the deck.
"Evidently the mountain lion wanted his deer more than the kids, so we lucked out today," resident Steve Luebbert said.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife crews flushed out the mountain lion by shooting it with a bean bag. The big cat ran off and rangers took the deer away.
