South Platte River Closed To Boating, Fishing
DENVER (AP) - Boaters, fishermen and the curious are being warned to be careful and, in some cases, stay out of Colorado's high and fast-moving rivers and creeks.
Near Denver, Jefferson and Douglas counties has banned tubing, boating, fishing and swimming in the South Platte River and the river's north fork until further notice. People are also being asked to stay away from unstable banks along the river.
In the Aspen area, authorities are asking inexperienced rafters and kayakers to stay out the Roaring Fork, Fryingpan and Crystal rivers, which have surged to levels not seen for several years this spring. Sheriff's deputies could be posted at popular river access spots.
Earlier this week, Boulder County banned tubing in Boulder Creek after a Denver man's body was pulled from the water.
