Fire Damages 7 Townhomes In South Denver, Nobody Injured
DENVER (CBS4) - Several townhomes were damaged after a quick moving fire in Denver.
The fire broke out early Sunday morning on Hillcrest Drive near Interstate 25 and Hampden Avenue. Nobody was injured but the fire spread to seven different homes.
"I felt heat coming through the wall and smoke through the window," resident Justin Smith said.
Smith recalled the moment he realized his townhome was on fire and he sprang into action.
"I called 911 and then ran to each neighboring house and banged on doors and windows to make sure everyone was up," Smith said.

The fire quickly spread to seven different homes apparently through a connecting attic.
Firefighters got the fire under control within the hour and damage was limited to the upper floors. Residents say the home where the fire started had been recently vacated.
"It's a nice quiet close community and nothing like this ever happens," homeowner Arthur Whitehead said.
Families CBS4's Mark Taylor spoke with said they were just glad that the quick moving fire didn't cause any injuries or take any lives.
Fire investigators say it's still too early to know the cause.
