Snow, Ice Cause I-70 Closures
SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Snow and ice are causing difficult driving conditions in the high country, which has the Colorado Department of Transportation closing some portions of Interstate 70.
Both directions of I-70 were closed at Empire due to winter driving conditions.
Earlier, westbound lanes of I-70 were closed at Empire Junction at 5 p.m. on Friday. Drivers were urged to expect an extended closure.

About the same time, eastbound lanes of I-70 were closed at Vail Pass due to spin-outs. It was unclear how long that portion of I-70 would be closed.
CDOT and @CSP_News are working as fast as possible to move spunout vehicles and jackknifed semis on I-70 Mtn Corridor. Some plows stuck in traffic as well. No ETA, will depend on weather conditions. Please drive safe. We will update when conditions change.
