Shooting In Olde Town Arvada: Officer On Leave After Death Of Samaritan Johnny Hurley
ARVADA, Colo. (CBS4) -- A detective with the Arvada Police Department has been placed on leave while the shooting death of Johnny Hurley is investigated. The district attorney's office is investigating whether the officer shot and killed Hurley in Olde Town Arvada on Monday.
Hurley is being remembered as a hero for attempting to stop gunman Ronald Troyke -- who is accused of killing Arvada Police Officer Gordon Beesley.
Funeral services for Beesley have been scheduled for Tuesday, June 29.
