Sheriff: Teen Tried To Sexually Assault Girls On Monarch Ski Run

CHAFFEE COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A teenager attempted to sexually assault two teenage girls at the Monarch Mountain ski area in separate incidents over the past two weeks, the Chaffee County Sheriff's Office said.

The sheriff's office said the victims reported riding on a chair lift with the suspect who then followed them down a ski run. He then forced them into the trees and tried to sexually assault them. Both victims escaped and the suspect fled.

In the second incident, the sheriff's office said the suspect fired a handgun in an attempt to coerce the victim to cooperate.

Both victims boarded the lifts alone.

The sheriff's office said it believes the suspect is a white teenage male, about 5-foot-8 to 6-foot-1 and 140 pounds. He may have red hair and freckles on his face.

The ski area is working with the sheriff's office to investigate the incidents.

Anyone with information is asked to call 719-207-0056 or 719-239-1600.
