Severe Storms Damage Homes, Cars In Northeastern Colorado
DENVER (AP) — Storms that produced hail the size of ping pong and golf balls and tornadoes damaged homes and knocked down power lines on Colorado's Eastern Plains.
The National Weather Service reports that hail caused extensive damage to structures and cars near Platner and Otis in Washington County on the Eastern Plains Tuesday. The Red Cross says it's helping seven people displaced from a house in Otis but the Weather Service hasn't determined whether that damage was caused by a tornado or strong winds.
Up to two tornadoes were reported near Akron and another was seen in Adams County, where some power poles were knocked over. Another tornado was reported on the ground near Clarkville in Yuma County.
The storms produced smaller hail in the Denver area, where it piled up like snow in some places.
