Several Accidents Shut Down Major Denver Highways
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Interstate 225 was completely shut down in the southbound direction Friday morning due to accidents.
Two separate crashes occurred on I-225 before 6 a.m., one just south of DTC Boulevard and another at Yosemite Street, causing the southbound direction of the highway to be closed at Parker Road. I-225 was reopened at 7:15 a.m., but not without major backups.
Three single vehicle crashes closed the southbound lanes of Interstate 25 below Happy Canyon Road, to which traffic was being diverted. Colorado State Patrol warned of black ice shortly before. The lanes were reopened at 6:30 a.m.
On Interstate 70, a crash eastbound at Peoria Street at approximately 6:30 a.m. and another crash westbound at Wadsworth Boulevard slowed travel with lane closures.
