Scientists Fly Over Colorado To Test Ozone
DENVER (CBS4)- Low-flying aircraft will be flying along the Front Range over the next several weeks to test Colorado's ozone.
NASA scientists will be checking out Colorado's ozone during a month-long study.
Two NASA aircrafts will be used in the study along with tethered balloons that will gather information about how pollution builds during the day.
The planes were scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
One NASA scientist wants to change the orbit of satellites to get days worth of information from a single location.
"Being able to see the morning, the midday, and the afternoon is extremely important in what the drivers are for air quality," said NASA Scientist James Crawford.
There will be three flights a day over Longmont through August 20.
