Police Search For Carjacking Suspects In Thornton Area

THORNTON, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators in Thornton on Monday were trying to figure out what the relationship was between a woman who was carjacked and the suspects in the crime.

The driver had two people in a 1995 Ford Bronco with her when one of those passengers, a man, threatened her with a gun.

That Bronco ended up at West 68th Avenue and Pecos Street, and witnesses say they saw the suspects flee. One was apparenly armed with a shotgun.

"When you have known suspects that are armed and dangerous, that have fled a vehicle, just committed a crime of violence and there's schools in the area, certainly as a precautionary measure we would put those schools on lockout," said Thornton police spokesman Matt Barnes.

Those lockouts lasted a couple of hours.

Police did not find the suspects in the area where the Bronco was ditched but the investigation is ongoing.
