Saint Anthony Hospital Gets State-Of-The-Art Medical Helicopter
LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Saint Anthony Hospital now has a new state-of-the-art medical helicopter.
United Rotorcraft is the Englewood company that built the new Flight For Life copter. It has more horsepower so it can reach heights over 20,000 feet, which will give it greater range in Colorado's high altitudes.
It also has additional safety features.
"It has an auto recovery feature so, if you were to get into a situation where, say you made a couple of bad choices, the pilot can push a button on the stick and let go of it; and the aircraft rights itself, starts a climb, gives you a few seconds to take a deep breath and say, 'I'll take it from here,' " said Rod Balak, Flight For Life Aviation Manager.
The copter is also faster than others and burns less fuel.
