Republican Presidential Debate At CU Will Likely Have A Smaller Pool

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - The University of Colorado in Boulder is getting ready for next month's Republican presidential debate and there will most likely be a smaller pool of candidates on stage at the Coors Events Center.

Candidates in the top-tier of the debate must have an average of at least 3 percent in six national polls from Sept. 17 to Oct. 21. That currently leaves out Rand Paul, Bobby Jindal, Rick Santorum, George Pataki and Lindsey Graham.

The other debate will feature candidates who have 1 percent, and not all of them make that mark.

The debate is scheduled for Oct. 28.

Democrats will get their turn in Las Vegas on Oct. 13.
