Red Rocks Community College Gets Big Boost For Expansion

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Red Rocks Community College is about to triple in size with the help of a huge grant.

In July the college plans to break ground on a 50,000-foot expansion. On Wednesday the Community First Foundation made its largest grant ever by donating $1 million to the project.

The facility will offer more classrooms and labs so students going into health professions, like physician's assistants, get real world experience.

"When people are out in the workforce they work as teams -- health teams," Dr. Michele Haney with Red Rocks Community College said. "So this facility is designed to have an inner-professional education system. So when you come in, regardless of your health career, you're going to be with a team."

The new building is scheduled to open in the fall of 2016.
