Suspect Shot, Killed On Highway 85 Wanted In Boulder County Robbery
ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A police pursuit on Highway 85 ended in a deadly shooting Tuesday night. The suspect wanted in that pursuit was the same man wanted in a home invasion and robbery in Boulder County about 12 hours earlier.
Multiple agencies were involved in the chase of a robbery suspect that began in Longmont Tuesday night. It ended on Highway 85 just north of Platteville, where the driver displayed a firearm and officers fired shots in response.
The driver, an adult male and the only person in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the same suspect wanted in an armed robbery and assault that happened at a home in the 4200 block of Sunshine Canyon in unincorporated Boulder County about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers found a 45-year-old male victim with non-life threatening injuries at the home. He was taken to the hospital and expected to recover.
The suspect drove away from the home and was last seen on Highway 128 near Interlocken.
The Colorado State Patrol, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, and Boulder police all pursued the suspect until they got to Broomfield where the pursuit was called off due to dangerous driving conditions.
About 12 hours later another pursuit began in Longmont involving the same suspect. The pursuit ended in the 14800 block of Highway 85 where the suspect was shot and killed. It is unclear which agency fired the fatal shot.
The Adams County Critical Incident Team was deployed to the scene and investigation continued through the night, including interviews of any witnesses.
Highway 85 remained closed in both directions in Commerce City between 120th Avenue and Bromley Lane overnight but reopened just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The suspect has not been identified.
