Police Arrest Suspect Wanted In Deadly Shooting At Walgreens

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Wheat Ridge have arrested a suspect wanted in a deadly shooting in the parking lot of a Walgreens store on Sunday night.

Officers rushed to the Walgreens at 44th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard about 8:15 p.m. Sunday on reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived they found a man with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to St. Anthony Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigators believe there was an altercation just before the shooting.

Investigators said they wanted to talk to a woman inside the Walgreens store who they believed was a witness to the shooting.

Police said that woman, Wenona Sims Begay, came to the Wheat Ridge Police Department after seeing her picture through the media. During the interview officers determined she was involved in the shooting.

Begay, 26, was arrested and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on second-degree murder charges. There is an additional suspect still at large but his name is not being released.
