Once A Landfill, Johnson Habitat Park Is Helping Improve South Platte Corridor
DENVER (CBS4) - Johnson Habitat Park in Denver is now open to visitors.
Mayor Michael Hancock helped celebrate the grand opening of the newly remolded park Monday afternoon.
The park cost more than $7 million to rebuild. It was once a city landfill but today it's filled with bike trails, playgrounds and access to the South Platte River.
"Today we are cutting the ribbon of not just a newly renovated park, but a new chapter in our city's rich history," Hancock said.
This project is one of five aiming to improve the South Platte River corridor.
