Officials Say They Know Who Put Nail Boards On Eagle Trail

SILT, Colo. (AP) - Investigators say they know who put nail boards along an informal biking trail in Eagle County.

The Bureau of Land Management said Monday that the vandalism appears isolated to a one-mile trail that is not part of an authorized network of mountain bike trails in the county.

Authorities on Oct. 18 found eight, 18-inch wooden strips anchored to the trail with 12 to 15 nails facing upward out of each. The bureau says the trail is not popular among mountain bikers and no problems have been reported.

Officials did not immediately identify the suspect and it was unclear if the person was in custody.
