Suspect In Deadly Shooting Killed, Officer Also Wounded
DENVER (CBS4)- An Aurora police officer was shot in Denver's Montbello neighborhood on Tuesday and is expected to survive. The suspect in the incident was shot and killed. That person was previously involved in a deadly shooting that happened less than an hour before in Aurora.
The officer-involved shooting happened just before noon near East 46th Avenue and Biscay Street. Police said that shooting in Denver may have been the result of an earlier incident involving the suspect, at 11:21 a.m. at 142 Del Mar Circle in Aurora where one person was shot and killed.
Copter4 flew over that scene where police had cordoned off a large parking lot.
That victim has not been identified.

Police initially tweeted an update on the situation of the shooting in the 14500 block of East 46th Avenue just after noon.
A few moments later police tweeted an update that a perimeter had been set up at the scene. Officers urged the public to avoid the area during the investigation.

Aurora police tweeted an update that an Aurora police officer was shot at the scene in Denver. The officer suffered non-life threatening injuries and was in stable condition on Tuesday afternoon. The officer not been identified.

Copter4 flew over a home near that intersection where there was a large police presence.
Police said the suspect was shot near the home during an altercation with officers after exiting the residence. It is unclear the connection between that residence and the suspect.

The suspect was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.
Denver police told CBS4 that one of their officers was also involved in the shooting in Montbello, having returned fire.
Oakland Elementary School located at 4580 Dearborn Street was placed in lockout status during the investigation. No students were injured.
