Off-Duty Deputy Killed In Crash In Grand County Identified

GRANBY, Colo. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of an off-duty sheriff's deputy who was killed in a crash in Grand County.

The county's Office of Emergency Management identified the deputy Wednesday as 30-year-old Alycia Riggs. She is survived by a 3-year-old daughter and a large extended family.

Emergency crews responded to the crash on U.S. Highway 34 just before 6 a.m. Tuesday and found Riggs critically injured. She died at a hospital about two hours later.

The circumstances of the crash and how many vehicles were involved have not been released.

Before joining the Grand County Sheriff's Office in September, Riggs was a member of the Sterling Police Department and the Adams State University Police Department.
