Wildfire Contained After Burning 30 Acres Near Carter Lake
BERTHOUD, Colo. (CBS4) - A wildfire that burned near Carter Lake in Larimer County came close to a home on Friday.
For several hours the fire forced the evacuation of between six and eight homes in the Sedona Hills subdivision, just east of the lake.
Carter Lake is located west of the town of Berthoud.
The fire was given the name Sedona Hills Fire. It burned 30 acres and was fully contained before dusk.
Deputies say a resident was welding a fence when a spark started the fire.
A total of 89 calls were made to residents alerting them that they might need to evacuate, but that never became necessary.
Firefighters from Berthoud, Loveland and Mountain View fire departments were involved in the firefight.
Firefighters also battled several smaller fires in other areas on Colorado's Front Range Friday afternoon. Some may have been started by lightning.
