New 'Diverging Diamond' Interchange Opens In Boulder County
BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Drivers are using a new interchange in Boulder County.
Copter4 captured video showing off what's called a Diverging Diamond at McCaslin Boulevard and Highway 36. It's all part of the U.S. 36 Express Lanes Project.
The diamond interchanges crosses traffic to the opposite side of the road so drivers have easier access to the freeway ramps. The Colorado Department of Transportation warns drivers that the new traffic pattern is significantly different.
The following is a clip from CDOT explaining the difference:
It's only the third type of this intersection in Colorado.
