Motorcyclist Accidentally Shot During Hit & Run Crash In Black Hawk
BLACK HAWK, Colo. (CBS4) – A suspect in a hit-and-run that resulted in an accidental shooting in Black Hawk has been arrested.
According to Black Hawk Police Chief Stephen Cole, a motorcycle was hit by a car at approximately 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 119 and Richman Street.
"The driver of the motorcycle was thrown and suffered serious injuries. The motorcycle driver suffered a possible gunshot wound during the crash," Cole said in a statement. "A gun was recovered at the scene and may have been in the possession of the motorcycle driver at the time of the crash."
The driver of the motorcycle, a 60-year-old man from Pennsylvania, was taken to a Denver-area hospital with injuries from the crash and an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
The Gilpin County sheriff's deputies later found the car at a campground north of Black Hawk and then found the suspect walking along Gap Road and took him into custody.
No names have been released.
