Molly Brown House Gets Renovation As Part Of Fix Up Effort

DENVER (CBS4)- This week crews started restoring an historic part of Denver-- the Molly Brown House. It's just one location of many targeted in an effort to fix up some top spots around the Mile High City.

Crews started on the front porch of the house which includes buffing up the ancient sphinx statue Brown brought back from Egypt.

Apparently her decision to decorate her home with the artifact wasn't too popular. She talked to the Denver Post about it 93 years ago, "Some people smirked when I brought home the ancient statuary from Egypt... but culture knows no boundaries and fine arts are international."

This is the first major renovation to the house in 40 years. The renovation is part of a $2 million effort to spruce up some popular places in Denver.
