Military Members Honor Navy SEAL From Littleton Killed In Action

LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4) - Military members on Tuesday honored a Navy SEAL from Littleton killed in action in Afghanistan.

Danny Dietz died fighting the Taliban in 2005. He continued firing at the enemy to protect his comrades even after being gravely wounded.

Dietz was honored at the Denver Military Entrance Processing Station. His parents were there as the ceremony room was rededicated in Dietz's honor.

"It's those values that I think caused Danny to join, caused Danny to end up making the ultimate sacrifice," Major General H. Michael Edwards with the Colorado Air National Guard said. "It's loyalty, it's trust, doing something bigger than yourself. And that's what this is all about."

Only one member of Dietz's SEAL team survived. He wrote a book that was later turned into the movie "Lone Survivor."
