Michelle Wilkins Set To Appear On Dr. Phil After Surviving Gruesome Longmont Attack
LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) - The Longmont woman who suffered a gruesome crime in March will be the first guest on the new season of Dr. Phil.
Michelle Wilkins was responding to a Craigslist ad for baby clothes when the woman giving away the clothes, Dynel Lane, attacked Wilkins and cut her unborn baby from her womb.
Wilkins described the moment to Dr. Phil as follows:
"I was very confused when it all started. I thought when she first hit me, was there a spider on me? She grabbed me and pushed me deeper in the house ... it had this nightmarish quality ... she broke something over my head and liquid was pouring on me."
Lane arrived at the hospital with the baby, claiming it to be her own. Wilkins made the call to 911 after regaining consciousness in the basement of Lane's house.
"My core belief is that love motivates. I told her I loved her, and in turn she stabbed me. She said, 'If you love me, you will let me do this,'" Wilkins said of her conversation with Lane just before the attack.
Wilkins survived the attack, but her unborn baby, Aurora, did not.
Lane pleaded not guilty in July to numerous counts, including first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and first-degree unlawful termination of pregnancy in the attack.
The episode, "Baby Ripped From The Womb, A Mother's Dream Shattered," will air Monday at 4 p.m. on CBS4.
