Memorial Service Held For Deputy Killed In Trinidad Crash

TRINIDAD, Colo. (AP) - Law enforcement officers are gathering in Trinidad to honor a Las Animas County sheriff's deputy who died after a crash last week.

A memorial service for 44-year-old Travis Russell is planned at Faith Christian Fellowship Thursday morning.

The Colorado State Patrol says Russell was driving his patrol vehicle when he veered across traffic and crashed into a parked, unoccupied SUV on March 1.

Gov. John Hickenlooper has ordered that flags remain lowered Thursday to honor Russell. They were lowered on Monday to pay tribute to Nancy Reagan.
