Man Who Tried To Save Mother From Fatal Fire Taken Off Life Support

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Investigators have determined what sparked a deadly house fire in Aurora that claimed the life of a woman and her son who was trying to rescue her.

Janelle Vargas died in the fire. Her son Gabriel, 32, suffered life-threatening injuries trying to rescue her. The family told CBS4 he was taken off life support Saturday morning and he died.

Fire investigators say the fire was an accident, caused by an electrical problem.

The fire started in a home along 7th Avenue on Wednesday morning and quickly spread to two other houses.

It's not clear how much warning the residents inside the homes that burned had. Seven people were in one of the homes.

A neighbor has started a Gofundme page for the Vargas family.

The fire spread to two other homes and damaged vehicles parked nearby.
