Man Takes Wild Ride In Back Of His Stolen 'Puffer' Pickup

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) - Lakewood police are searching for a suspect after a "puffer" pickup was stolen and then crashed into a van.

The owner of the pickup, Thomas Garcia, told CBS4 at approximately 6 a.m. Friday he started his Ford truck that was parked in his driveway on West 5th Avenue and went to open his garage door and put his boots on when somebody got into his truck and started driving away. That's when Garcia jumped into the bed of the truck.

The suspect crashed the stolen vehicle into a van owned by Jeremy Romero at 1st and Lowell.

"We heard a loud crash and me and my lady came out to see the truck parked right there all smashed into my van," Romero said. "We had to go get dressed, you know, we were in our pajamas. And then we came out and the guy was here. They said he stole the truck, he went for a wild ride in the back."

Garcia wasn't injured.

Lakewood police are looking for the suspect. They said he fled in a green Dodge truck that was waiting for him near the scene of the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lakewood police.
