Man Formally Charged In Connection With Triple Shooting

DENVER (CBS4) – A man accused in a triple shooting last summer has been formally charged.

According to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office, Tayvon Martin, 21, is charged with first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

"The charges allege that Martin confronted and shot three people in the 1200 block of Albion Street on June 22, 2013," Kimbrough said in a statement. "One of the victims, 21-year-old Gabriel Scott, later died. A 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were also shot and survived."

Kimbrough said police identified Martin as the suspect but he fled the state. Detectives learned Martin had returned to Denver and he was arrested on Feb. 3.

Martin is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday to be advised of the charges.
