Man Claims Snowplow Damaged Truck

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- A man from Boulder has blamed a snowplow for damaging his truck after the plow blasted him with a wall of snow and ice.

"It had to be just hundreds and hundreds of pounds of force," said Erik Duffy.

Duffy said he was making work deliveries in his truck on Friday when it happened while he was driving down Broadway near Mapleton Avenue. He said an oncoming plow threw a massive heap of snow and ice right on top of him.

"The top of my truck is close to six-and-a-half, seven feet tall. To do that kind of damage from down low all the way up was pretty shocking," said Duffy.

The impact caved in the cab of the one-ton Dodge Ram pickup and smashed the windshield which sent shattered glass inside.

"This guy was going fast enough to do that kind of damage. Fortunately, it happened to me in this truck. If it would have happened to a different family in a smaller vehicle, who is to say what could have happened to them," said Duffy.

An official with the City of Boulder said risk management would conduct an investigation to determine if the city was responsible or if it has any liability.

Duffy filed a police report on the incident.
