Loveland Firefighters Hit The Stairs For Cancer Research
LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4)- Firefighters in Loveland are working out on stair climbers all weekend to raise money for cancer research.
The firefighters have pledged to climb stairs for 69 hours straight to show their support for two Colorado State Patrol officers who are battling lymphoma.
The firefighters are on stair climbers in a tent outside the Rock Bottom Brewery at the Promenade Shops in Loveland.
The Loveland Fire Rescue Authority got the idea for the fundraiser from an international event they participate in every year in Seattle.
"They climb 69 stories of an office building out there. And in doing so, we wanted to replicate that on a local level to try and raise some money," said Colorado State Patrol Major Tim Keeton.
The money raised will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and also help with medical bills for those two state troopers.
