Lefthand Canyon Fire Forces Evacuations In Town Of Ward
BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A new wildfire in Boulder County sparked along Lefthand Canyon Drive on Sunday afternoon. The fire is being called the Lefthand Canyon Fire.
The fire is burning near the town of Ward -- forcing 145 residential evacuations in that town. The fire is about 242 acres in size.
Areas north of Ward, Gold hill and the 10,000 block of Lefthand Canyon Drive are included as well as residents on Spring Gulch Road and Gold Lake Road.

Boulder County Office of Emergency Management says this fire is separate from the nearby CalWood Fire burning near Jamestown.
Boulder OEM announced a number of road closures in the area.

"If east of the 14,000 block of Lefthand Canyon Drive go east on Lefthand Canyon Drive or Sunshine Canyon Drive and if west go towards Hwy 72 and head south to Nederland," said Boulder County officials.
The Nederland Community Center at 750 CO-72 is an evacuation point. Livestock should go to the Gilpin County Fairground 230 Norton Drive in Black Hawk.
