USGS In Golden Monitors Latest Deadly Seismic Event In Nepal

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - A new and powerful earthquake has rattled Nepal. This one hit near Kodari, a town considered a gateway for travel to Mount Everest and was a magnitude 7.3.

There were at least a half dozen other aftershocks in the hours around it, including one of a magnitude 6.3.

Dr. Harley Benz, scientist in-charge of the USGS National Earthquake Information Center in Golden tells CBS4 it was an aftershock. Still, this new seismic event has killed at least dozens of people as it shook already weakened buildings and homes.
