Lakewood Police Investigate Death Of 3-Month-Old

LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)- Police investigated the death of a 3-month-old infant who was rushed to the hospital last week. The infant died after three days in the hospital.

Police and paramedics rushed to a home in the 5300 block of W. 16th Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday in response to a 911 call that indicated a child had difficulty breathing.

Once there, police and fire personnel located an unresponsive 3-month-old female in the home. The infant was rushed to the hospital.

The 20-year-old father of the child was home with the infant at the time. The investigation revealed that the child and father were the only two in the apartment before police were called.

The infant remained hospitalized until she died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. She had been receiving treatment for what detectives feel are unexplained injuries.

Detectives continue their investigation and have not made any arrests.

Anyone who feels they may have information that would assist detectives is asked to call Lakewood Police at 303.987.7111.
