Kirkland Museum Gets Ready For Move

DENVER (CBS4)- A popular museum in Denver's Capitol Hill neighborhood is closed to visitors and up on blocks this weekend. Crews are preparing to move the Kirkland Museum to its new location in the Golden Triangle.

The museum is moving from 13th Avenue and Pearl Street to 12th Avenue and Bannock Street. The plan it to keep Vance Kirkland's original studio intact.

The building will be moved using six sets of remote controlled wheels.

There will be some road closures in the area during the move including portions of Pearl Street between 13th and 14th through Nov. 6, and Bannock Street between 12th and 13th through Nov. 8.

The new 38,500-square-foot museum is projected to open fall 2017.
