Junction Vet Will Be Bennet Guest At Obama Speech

DENVER (AP) - Colorado Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet says his guest at the State of the Union speech next week will be a Vietnam veteran from Grand Junction whose daughter committed suicide while a member of the Air Force.

Bennet said Tuesday that Wayne Telford has worked to raise awareness about veteran suicides since his daughter, Tech. Sgt. Brooke Leigh Caffrey, took her own life in 2012.

Telford served last year on a panel of veterans, mental health experts and service providers that Bennet convened.

Bennet praised Telford's commitment and said he is honored that Telford will be his guest.

President Barack Obama will deliver the State of the Union address Tuesday.
