Jon Gray Scheduled To Start Series Opener Against Dodgers

DENVER (AP) — Colorado Rockies right-hander Jon Gray was scheduled to make his 2016 debut Friday night, starting against the Los Angeles Dodgers after being activated from the 15-day disabled list.

Gray, who made two rehab starts with Class A Modesto, went on the DL because of an abdominal strain.

In a series of other moves, the Rockies placed right-handed reliever Miguel Castro on the 15-day DL with right shoulder inflammation, retroactive to Monday. They recalled right-handed reliever Carlos Estevez and selected the contract of right-handed reliever Gonzalez Germen from Triple-A Albuquerque.

To clear roster space, the Rockies optioned left-handed reliever Jason Gurka to Albuquerque and right-hander David Hale was designated for assignment.
