DENVER (CBS4) - This may become your new favorite website, in fact, you might find yourself sitting and staring at it for hours.

It's called HINT.FM and you can access it by clicking here.

According to a description of the site this work is a collaboration of Fernanda Viégas and Martin Wattenberg, two artists who like to invent new ways for people to think and talk about data.

The map is interactive and shows the surface wind pattern over the United States in real-time. The brighter lines indicate faster winds.

If you're checking it out Monday evening (Feb. 1) be sure to zoom into southeast Colorado and look for the center of low pressure of a strong winter storm passing through the Central and Southern Rockies.

Meteorologist Chris Spears writes about stories related to weather and climate in Colorado. Check out his bio, connect with him on Facebook or follow him on Twitter @ChrisCBS4.
