Inmate Killed At Prison In Ordway, Few Details Released

ORDWAY, Colo. (AP) - Corrections officials are investigating after an inmate was killed at a prison in Ordway.

Laurie Kilpatrick, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Corrections, says an inmate was killed either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning at the all-male Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility. A fellow inmate is suspected in the death.

Officials have not released the names of the two involved, and Kilpatrick declined to say how the inmate was killed.

Corrections officials and the district attorney's office are investigating the death.

The Denver Post reports that In 2012, an inmate at the prison was accused of stabbing a sergeant to death and injuring another sergeant. The stabbing triggered an outside review of Colorado prison operations.
