I-70 Tunnels To Become Veterans Memorial Tunnels

IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — The tunnels along Interstate 70 in Idaho Springs are being formally re-named on the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The Colorado Department of Transportation says the Twin Tunnels will be named the Veterans Memorial Tunnels during a ceremony at the site Friday afternoon. Local military veterans and Col. John Wagner of the U.S. Air Force are set to attend.

State lawmakers previously voted to rename the tunnels. A re-naming ceremony was originally planned in December but delayed because of weather.
