House Burglar With Chainsaw Asked If He Was In Kentucky

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in the Colorado Springs area have released the booking photo of a muddy man who they say broke into several homes and carried around a chainsaw.

Police say Gerald Kimble, 49, illegally entered four different homes on Tuesday in Old Colorado City and stole items, including the chainsaw.

Several residents of the houses that were broken into were home at the time. Gerald Mitsch, 85, told CBS4 partner KKTV she stood her ground.

"This man was standing there, bare footed with a chainsaw in his hand and a straw hat," said Mitsch. "It was very scary, he kept bouncing that chainsaw on the floor, on end and the thing must have been about three-feet long."

Mitsch said the man left after repeatedly asking whether he was in Kentucky.

He was arrested at a different home soon afterwards.

Police say they suspect Kimble was under the influence of drugs. He tentatively faces multiple felonies.
