Heavy snow causes flight delays and cancellations at Denver International Airport

Flight officials at Denver International Airport say passengers should expect flight delays and cancellations due to heavy snowfall in the area.

Just after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, there were reportedly 18,574 delays and 861 cancellations at DIA. After 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, the airport was 724 delays and 26 cancellations.

The first snowstorm of the season impacted most of the state, including the Denver metro area, Saturday through Sunday.

A winter storm warning was in effect for the Denver metro, the front range, the foothills, and the mountains.
