Gun Shop Targeted In Smash & Grab
LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4)- The search is on for thieves who targeted a gun shop in Littleton and got away with multiple weapons.
The suspects hit Warhorse Firearms in Littleton overnight in the latest smash-and-grab burglary to occur at a Denver metro area gun store.
Investigators say the thieves broke into a motorcycle shop on the first floor of the building and then made their way upstairs to the gun shop.
Police said 20 guns, all rifles, were stolen. A suspect description has not been released.
Agents with Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives say they aren't sure why the area has been targeted so frequently by gun thieves recently.
"It's very alarming to us. This is our top priority at ATF," said Lisa Meiman.
"These are weapons that are going to be used in crimes. They're not going to be trophies. They're not going to be used for hunting. They're extremely dangerous to the public and officer safety."
