Grass Fire Continues To Burn, Transformer May Be To Blame
LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- A grass fire continued to burn on Monday north of Lyons in Larimer County.
The Dakota Ridge Fire burning off Dry Creek Drive southwest of Carter Lake been estimated at 25 acres. Fire crews had the fire 35 percent contained just before 5 p.m.
Some people in the area of Rabbit Mountain, including hikers, have been alerted to the fire. They have not been given evacuation orders but have been told to stay alert if the situation changes.
Fire crews investigated whether a blown transformer was the cause of the fire.
Firefighters from Larimer County, Lyons Fire, Berthoud Fire, Longmont Fire, Boulder Mountain, Lefthand Fire, Boulder County and Mountain View Fire.
